  • Where are you located?

Person First Adult Family Home #1 is located in the "Ponderosa" area of the Spokane Valley at 11116 East Ferret Drive.  We enjoy peaceful valley and panoramic mountain views in a beautiful suburban neighborhood.  Our neighborhood features white tail deer browsing in the tranquil pine treed hills, yet close enough for easy access to transit, shopping, and parks.  Check out our 'Links' page for more information about Spokane, Washington.  Person First AFH #2 is also located in the Spokane Valley at 7122 East 12th Avenue and is wheelchair accessible, allowing for admission of Residents who cannot evacuate independently.

  • What ages and types of residents do you accept?

We accept individuals ages 18 and over with any developmental disability.  This includes, but is not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, Mental Retardation, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Learning Disability, Blind & Vision Impaired, Seizure Disorder, etc, etc, etc.  We have professional expertise and many years of experience providing top quality care for individuals with a very broad range of disabilities and co-existing conditions.  We also accept your loved one from anywhere in the United States and Canada.

  • When will a second home open?

We are now officially open!  We passed our final inspection and our License was issued on February 15th. Our 2nd AFH is located at 7122 East 12th Avenue in the Spokane Valley just off Park Road.  It's a beautiful 3750 sq.ft. rancher with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. It was built in 2005, making it "like new" with gorgeous tilework, cathedral ceilings, beautiful bathrooms, and securely within the Paratransit bus boundary! This home is also wheelchair accessible. Thank you!

  • What makes Person First better than other adult family homes?

Our homes are one of a kind for many reasons.  Amy & staff are highly trained in the field of Special Education with many years of experience working with special needs populations.  Beyond staff qualifications, our homes have low resident to staff ratios, allowing staff to truly know your loved one.  This creates proactive care for our residents, instead of the reactive care most facilities with high resident and staff turnover rates provide.  Our homes are clean, safe, loving, and always promote independence.

Our residents come from nice families who insist upon top quality care for their loved ones. We are confident in the care we provide, and invite you to stop by at any time to visit.  We have an open door policy, meaning you are welcome at any time (but, if you plan ahead, we would be happy to count you in on one of our yummy meals).

We pride ourselves on being the best out there!

  • How many residents can be placed in a Person First Adult Family Home?

We can offer services for a maximum of six adults in each home. Contact us to join our waiting list, discuss options for respite care, or to discuss full-time placement in our home. We encourage any interested families to contact us as soon as possible in order to reserve a spot for your loved one.

  • What type of community activities will my loved one take part in while living in a Person First Adult Family home?

As many as possible!!!  We find it important for all individuals with different abilities to be involved in the community!  Whether it be supported employment opportunities, community integration, or simply as one of our family members, we access the community weekly for outings and fun.  Check out our 'Services' page for more information.

  • How much will it cost?

We work closely with each family to provide top quality care at an affordable price.  Fees are based upon level of care needed.  We take both privately funded and state funded individuals with disabilities.  If you are privately funded, Amy will happily conduct a Comprehensive Assessment to determine the level of care needed for your loved one.   If you are state funded, a state case manager will conduct the comprehensive assessement to determine rates.

  • How do I begin the process?

First and foremost contact us!  We have limited spaces available for our 2nd home opening soon, so the sooner you get in touch with of us, the quicker we can help you.  Prepare any questions or concerns you may have about placing your loved one in our home, and we will be happy to sort out the details with you.

If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us at anytime.
